This well known nightclub off the Pacific Coast Highway offers good drinks, great food, a cool crowd and a trendy atmosphere.

Near the Pacific Coast Highway and Channel Road intersection lies a black-walled, low key building decorated with a simple painted martini glass and a classic neon bar sign that says “Cocktails.”

Every Thursday, howling would-be singers can be heard inside this bar at the corner of Pacific Palisades and Santa Monica. It’s time for karaoke night at The Hideout!

Located near several popular restaurants, The Hideout draws a wide combination of patrons, ranging from young professionals to wealthy middle-agers who have come for a sociable evening of drinking and at the same time enjoying a night of singing.

As you walk into the bar, you will be greeted by Vincent DiMeola, the most welcoming and most charming doorman there is; he is capable of instantly putting a smile on your face.

This joint looks like any other bar; the interior is painted crimson red, and its soft lighting, dark curtains and booth table setups offer a romantic feel. The spot also has an upstairs lounge for private parties.

Out on the back is the patio, where smokers can enjoy a cigarette and engage in a conversation with others, and everyone seems to be in high spirits.

Opened in 2007, the nightspot teeters on the edge between dive and lounge and is unsurprisingly understated, lacking any sort of pretentiousness. This is why people keep coming back to The Hideout.

“It’s not overcrowded, people are great and I wouldn’t go anywhere else,” said one regular customer.

During Thursday karaoke nights, The Hideout doesn’t start getting its groove on until 11 p.m., when party-goers fill the middle of the disco floor. In between karaoke sets, DJ Gold Dust cranks up popular hits that just make you want to dance.

On karaoke nights, the bar offers specials such as $3 Coronas and $6 Patron shots. For a few more bucks, the suitably named “Junebug” cocktail offers more punch and will definitly satisfy thirsty customers looking for something different as a libation. Bartender Niko Vitacco mixes Malibu rum, banana liqueur, Midori, pineapple juice and splashes of soda water and lime juice into a delicious concoction with ease. The best part is, this drink gets you a great buzz and will give your evening a satisfying vibe. The bar also offers free tacos (catered by Byron’s) on karaoke nights, and the tacos are so good you can’t stop eating them.  In addition, The Hideout also has a bar-top dancer named Amie Nicole whose body and moves makes it hard not to stare. What a great way to spend your Thursday nights!

This place sure is a winner. With good drinks, good food, and a good crowd, you can’t go wrong at The Hideout. So come next Thursday, be sure to drop by and have a great time!
