As Cirque du Soleil comes back to the Santa Monica beach, two restaurants will be celebrating this with exceptional deals on dining, and prix-fixe menus. Cirque du Soleil’s OVO was opened to the public last Friday, January 20, held beneath the big top at the Santa Monica Pier. The show delves into an ecosystem crawling with life, where insects toil, eat, creep and crawl, flicker, play, fight and search for love within the hysterical chaos of energy and movement. But when a strange egg shows up before them, the insects become mesmerized and at the same time extremely interested about what this iconic object is and what it means – the puzzle and cycles of their lives.

Ocean & Vine at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel will be serving a pre (or post) dinner event from January 20 until March 25, with a prix-fixe menu, which will include: a starter, main course and glass of wine for just $34. Eat fireside or out on Ocean & Vine’s patio that looks out over the signature blue-and-yellow Grand Chapiteau (big top) by the Santa Monica Pier. Menu choices will include: Santa Monica Seafood Chili, Steelhead Salmon with Tarragon Fennel Lobster Risotto, Chicken Bordeaux and more. Additionally, complimentary valet parking will be included for the duration of the show.

Locanda del Lago, situated at the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, will honor the new show with egg-centric specials, plus a one-hour express menu for performance-goers. Each dish, made by Executive Chef Gianfranco Minuz, will be getting its inspiration from “uovo,” the Italian word for “egg” and the cornerstone of the new show’s storyline. Specials will both be available during lunch and dinner, and will be incluing:

  • Linguine alla Carbonara: Housemade linguine pasta with guanciale, egg, black pepper, and pecorino ($11/14)
  • Tagliatelle alla Bolognese: Egg tagliatelle with bolognese meat sauce ($21)
  • Euro Burger: Italian-style prime beef hamburger with red onion, fried egg, and Robiola cheese on a Michetta roll ($17)
  • Panna Cotta: Vanilla cream custard with strawberry sauce and almond tuille ($8)
  • Espresso with a shot of Zabaglione (Italian egg liqueur) ($10)
The restaurant will also be featuring a separate “OVO Express” menu for pre-performance diners, which guarantees in-and-out service in one hour or less. Guests may choose to order a one appetizer and one entrée meal for $25 per person from a distinctive assortment of classic dishes. Menu items will include: Minestrone Soup, Market Salad, Gnocchi ai Funghi (Weiser Farm Potato Gnocchi with Shiitake and Porcini Mushrooms), and Pizzoccheri alla Valtellinese (Buckwheat Pappardelle with Savoy Cabbage, Yukon Potato, and Bitto Cheese-Sage Fondue). *Note: Price does not include beverage, tax or gratuity
